Background

CICC has been promoting Open Source Software in Asia from March 2003. Human Resource Development has been identified as one of the bottlenecks relating to the wider use of OSS. So, this program has been initiated by the CICC Singapore office with the aim of creating a large number of OSS professionals to teach OSS in South and South-east Asia.

Objective

The main objective of training programs and workshops is to Identify and Develop Master trainers and developers for Asian OSS training community (AOT). Master trainers are OSS practioners, who can initiate, develop and implement training programs in their countries. Through the workshop, Master trainers test and improve the OSS course material and other OSS promotional materials required for training and promoting OSS in each country of the Asian region. During this program importance of voluntary contribution and need for sustainable OSS training program in each country is stressed. Master trainers are expected to support and help in conducting Asia OSS programs in their countries.
