Background

CICC has been hosting the Asia Open Source Software Symposiums twice a year from March 2003. Human Resource Development has been identified as one of the bottlenecks relating to the wider use of OSS. So, this program has been initiated by the CICC Singapore office with the aim of creating a large number of OSS professionals to teach OSS in South and South-east Asia.

Objective

The main objective of training programs and workshops is to Identify and Develop Master trainers for Asian OSS training community (AOT). Master trainers are OSS practioners, who can initiate, develop and implement training programs in their countries. Through the workshop, Master trainers test and improve the OSS course material required for training in each country of the Asian region. During this program importance of voluntary contribution and need for sustainable OSS training program in each country is stressed. Master trainers are expected to support and help in conducting Asia OSS training programs in their countries.

  1. OSS Essential Training at India, January 22 to 24, 2008
  2. The Center for International Cooperation for Computerization (CICC)conducted the third Asia OSS Master Trainers Workshop with School of Information Systems (SIS), Singapore Management University (SMU) for five days, from December 3rd to 7th, 2007 at the SMU city campus.
  3. OSS Essentials Training Program at Quezon City, Philippines on November 21 to 23, 2007
